All clients receive our core service offering in addition to an organizational review after signing up. This foundational offering consists of the following, along with an additional 8 hours in the first month:

Recruitment Process Design
Defining your organization’s hiring process: how to assess, who is involved at each stage, communication with candidates, etc.
Policy Development
Reviewing existing employment policies to ensure they are clear and compliant (from vacation to non-harassment). Providing an employee handbook if one does not exist.
Employment Terminations
Designing the process to be in compliance and reviewing each potential termination to consider risk.
Investigations
Conducting formal investigations as needed (privately interviewing parties associated with significant employee relations incidents).
FSLA and Job Description Review
Reviewing individual job descriptions and considering FSLA compliance.
Market Compensation Review
Reviewing compensation for existing or new roles on an ad hoc basis.
1099/Contractor Agreement Review
Review to ensure contractor agreements are in compliance (pass non-employment “test”), contract language, etc.
Compliance Monitoring
Review and advise on major regulatory/compliance changes.
Manager and Employee Business Partner Support
Fielding questions from employees and managers on a variety of topics. Coaching managers on difficult conversations, managing performance issues, intra-team personnel issues, etc. The Business Partner role is the core function of an organization’s employee-facing HR team.
Specialist Service Provider Selection and Liaison
Assist in finding various specialists within a Human Capital context as needed. This may include assistance with legal representation, immigration, leadership development, role-specific professional development, DEIB, etc.
Organizational Design
Advise on organizational structure, succession planning.
Employee Relations
Receiving and responding to complaints raised by employees on numerous potential issues, (potentially related to claims of harassment, discrimination, or disparate treatment/impact).
Total Rewards
Reviewing compensation strategies and benefits offerings if necessary. On a project-basis, may build new systems or offerings, considering both cost to the company and the need to create a compelling package to boost hiring and retention.
HR Software Review and Consulting
Review existing software platforms and make recommendations based on gaps or opportunities. Assist with selecting new systems as needed. This may include HRMS (Human Resources Management Systems), Payroll/HRMS, PEOs (Professional Employment Organizations), ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems), etc.
Performance Improvement Plans
Design PIP planning, review with managers on an ad hoc basis.
Performance Review System
Review and make suggestions, or on a project-basis design and implement new systems.
Note: Due to the generalist nature of the HR Business Partner role, this is not an exhaustive list, but illustrates the core services provided with more detail.

Tier 1 | <10 Employees
$2,000: Monthly with 6 month commitment
$2,200: Monthly
Includes foundational offering plus Business Partner support* for the leadership team up to 8 hours per month after initial review period.
Tier 2 | 10-25 Employees
$2,500: Monthly with 6 month commitment
$2,750: Monthly
Tier 1 support, plus Business Partner support* for leadership and general employees up to 10 hours per month.
Tier 3 | 26-50 Employees
$3,000: Monthly with 6 month commitment
$3,300: Monthly
Tier 2 support, plus Business Partner support* for leadership and employees up to 12 hours per month.
Tier 4 | 51-100 Employees
$4,200: Monthly with 6 month commitment
$4,800: Monthly
Tier 3 support, plus Business Partner support* for leadership and employees up to 16 hours per month.
*Additional Business Partner support available beyond guidelines listed above at a rate of $200 per hour.
*Recruiting services are billed separately, per hire.
Additional Services
Tern HR can manage your recruiting process, bringing decades of experience with talent acquisition processes to your organization. From process design to candidate sourcing and screening, Tern HR can jump in and find the talent you need.
- Pricing is determined based on the scope of the search.
- This service is separate from core HR offering.
Tern HR’s team can manage larger-scale HR initiatives that are crucial to the success of your organization, and which may be outside the scope of core HR services.
Examples of project-based support could be:
- Compensation System development
- Benefit offering design and selection
- Reduction-in-Force planning
- Performance Review System design
- Pricing developed ad hoc depending on scope of project
- This offering is separate from core HR offering
While Tern HR’s core offering does not provide full administrative support of HR, Payroll, and other areas related to employment within your organization, we can provide fractional support for this as well. Utilizing this service at Tern HR will still provide you with a significant cost savings versus hiring full-time administrative staff, and one represents one fewer person you would need to manage.
